Core Competencies

The BSE department has been engaging in cultivating outstanding engineers and researchers with engineering and management technology and eco-environmental awareness for the next generation. Our core competencies for different levels of students include

Undergraduate

(1) Ability to analyze the principles and theories in mathematics, ecology, environmental science, engineering and modern technology

(2) Ability to design and execute experiments (field-tests), research & analysis, and interpretation of bioenvironmental systems

(3) Ability to apply information technology and computing models, such as remote sensing and geographic information systems, to support engineering analysis and decision making in bioenvironmental systems

(4) Ability to communicate and teamwork in applying system science, ecology, agro-environmental protection, and soil and water resources engineering

(5) Ability to identify and solve problems related to bioenvironmental systems engineering

(6) Enthusiasm with good character and social care

Master

(1) Ability to develop innovative technologies in the field of ecological environment, soil and water resources and ecological engineering, and environmental systems and informatics

(2) Ability to communicate and work in teams that participate in cross-disciplinary research and integration

(3) Ability to conduct the basic and cross-disciplinary research

(4) Ability to possess global vision and to participate in international academic research

Doctorate

(1) Ability to develop innovative research methodologies by considering fundamental theories, such as ecological environment, soil and water resources and ecological engineering, and environmental systems and informatics

(2) Ability to communicate and work together with people from cross-discipline for conducing integrated and innovative research

(3) Leadership in promoting basic research and cross-disciplinary research

(4) Ability to have an international perspective and participate in international academic research
